The 5 Minute Pitch

Duration: half day

Objective

In an increasingly time-sensitive work environment, media executives need to get their recommendations over quickly and effectively. This workshop gives some practical techniques on just how to do that.

Benefits

• Structure your arguments in an easy-to-follow, persuasive manner
• Rely on verbal and non-verbal communication to present your point of view without the support of visual aids
• Get agreement from your audience so that positive action happens
• Free up your time from having to prepare and create lengthy PowerPoint presentation aids

Content

During the workshop delegates will work on a number of interactive topics:

• Group brainstorm on the benefits/best practice of the ‘5-minute presentation’ – both internal & external applications
• Understanding the use and abuse of information & levels of detail required
• Describing the advantages and benefits of our ideas – all delegates will make a 2-minute presentation on a mundane household object
• Structuring our argument for maximum effect – 3-minute media related presentations
• Assertive communication – what it is and how to achieve it
• Generating maximum interaction with our audience
• Asking for and getting agreement + instigating a follow-up action plan
• All delegates to present with a 5-minute interactive presentation on a media related issue

Target

The workshop is aimed at all media people who have to persuade their clients or own management.
Foundation level course, typically for media people with 1-3 years experience, although more experienced executives could also find this beneficial.

Format

This is a morning workshop (09.30 – 13.00) held at a convenient central London location with up to eight delegates attending. Delegates will find it fast moving, fun, practical and easy to implement.
