Media Project Management

Duration: 1 day

Objective

To help media agency and media owner managers deliver high quality results, making best use of the resources and time available to them when working on client projects.
The programme focuses on the interpersonal and technical skills needed to uncover the client’s underlying needs, come up with a creative solution, plan the work needed to achieve it and manage the project through to completion.

Benefits

The programme gives participants:

• Greater awareness of the opportunities provided by planning in advance
• Practical planning and delegation techniques that fit with the way media people already work
• Useful standards and formats to help managers structure their projects and communicate progress

Content

The programme runs over one day and covers the following areas:

• How to identify the key stakeholders in any project and develop a constructive relationship with them
• Establishing the critical success criteria for a project brief
• How to build a multidisciplinary project team using internal and external resources
• Team planning and delegation
• Reviewing progress
• Creative ideas for energising project teams and rewarding success

Delegates will be given the opportunity to plan a current project that can be taken back and implemented in the live setting.

Target

The course is aimed at executives who have responsibility for delivering media projects using people from different disciplines inside and outside their company. Attendees should have some experience of running projects and have an interest in honing their skills to work at a higher level on more complex projects.
Intermediate level course, typically for media people with 3-5 years experience, although more experienced managers could also find this beneficial.
This module follows naturally on from the ‘Skill Booster’ half day workshop on Time Management which is also run by the Hobbs Partnership for The Media Circle.

Format

This is an intensive one day programme held at a central London location.

Facilitator

The programme is run by Peter Hobbs of Vondel Professional Development, a consultancy with an established track record of project management coaching and training. Peter has worked with a variety of media owners (online, print and broadcast) and agencies and has a good understanding of the unique demands of the industry.
